Today we’re going to talk about the…

5 Key Ingredients to Create a Persuasive Ad Copy

First…
What is an Ad Copy?
An ad copy is the main text of your ad.
It is usually the caption that you see on a social media post.

How does an Ad Copy work?
In a typical sales setting, a salesperson spend several minutes to hours answering questions and addressing concerns of the customers.
But when selling is done online, this interaction becomes missing.
And that’s where ad copy comes in.
The ad copy addresses the possible objections a customer might have and highlights the benefits the customer will receive when purchasing the product.

What exactly is the Goal of an Ad Copy?
To put it simply, the goal of an ad copy is to encourage potential customers to take action and buy your product.

Now, that we know what an Ad Copy is for…
Let’s talk about the…

5 Key Ingredients to Create a Persuasive Ad Copy

1. Problem

You need to find out what is the problem of your target customer.

For example, entrepreneurs’ common problems are: lack of leads, lack of sales and lack of training.
If you are in the fitness industry, common problems of people why they don’t exercise are: lack of time, lack of motivation and lack of equipment.

Identifying your customer’s problems allows you to provide the best solution.
Being able to provide the best solution leads to increased customer satisfaction.
Satisfied customers will keep coming back to buy more products from you.

2. Benefit

When we say benefit we are talking about the value that the customer gets from the product.

For example, if your customer’s problem is lack of leads, then the benefit would be: generate 100 leads per day on autopilot.
If your customer’s problem is lack of time to exercise, then the benefit would be: lose 10 lbs. in 30 days without working out.

People are more interested on the benefits than the specs of a product.
They are more interested on what the product can do to improve their lives.
You should focus on how your product can help your customers achieve their goal or help them eliminate their pain points.

3. Proof

People like to see result.
People want to know if this thing really works.
They don’t want to be the only one out there, especially without a result.
They want to see validation first.

So, what can be a proof?
Showing them your own result is a very good social proof.
If you don’t have one, you can use another person’s results as an example.
You can also use statistical data.
Or, a result from your own experiment when testing different methods and strategies.

4. Offer

Everybody loves a good, irresistible offer.
Just think of Black Friday deals.
People are scrambling and wrestling to hoard items because of the crazy offers.

An offer is a great strategy to have in your ad copy.
It either sweetens the deal or takes the pressure off so your target customer will take an action.
Some of these offers are:

  • Bonuses,
  • Discounts,
  • Buy one get one,
  • 14 day risk free trial,
  • 30 day money back guarantee.

5. Takeaway

Takeaway is a sales strategy where you actually takeaway what you are trying to sell.
Another term for takeaway is “fear of loss”.
The goal of the takeaway is to motivate your prospective customer to buy now before they miss out on the amazing offer.
Examples of takeaways are:

  • 70% off for the next 48 hours only
  • Fast action bonuses for the first 20 people
  • Limited only for the next 50 people

The offer and the takeaway goes well together.
It puts the people in that state of mind to jump on and make the purchase right away.
Because they know that they can only take advantage of the low price plus the bonuses right at this moment.
