1. Searching for perfection
There is no such thing as perfect.
If you are putting things off because you are preparing yourself so that you can execute the perfect output, you will never be able to do anything.
You will only continue to make it an excuse not to start because you are not ready yet.
In the same sense, waiting for the perfect time to start something will only prevent you from ever doing and accomplishing anything.
Perfection is just an illusion.
It is procrastination in disguise.

What you can do:

  • Start anyway, regardless if you are ready or not and might produce a meager output.
  • Stay consistent on what you are doing.
  • Focus on the process and continuous improvement.
  • Simply put out the best version of yourself every time.
  • Done is better than perfect.

2. Overthinking
If you constantly think that you might make a mistake, or you might no be able to make something as good as other’s, or people might laugh at you or think you are weird… You are just overthinking things.
Being concerned at some point is one thing, but constant worrying is bad.
Not only you are crippling yourself, you are also spreading negativity.
It will only drag you down.

What you can do:

  • Learn to switch your mind to think positive things.
  • Allow yourself to see the good around you.
  • When you are facing a new project, think more about ‘what if I fly’ instead of ‘what if I fall’.

3. Making excuses
Excuses are the reasons for 99% of failures.
Fear and uncertainty are common but don’t make them as reasons to make excuses.
Your excuses are just wasting your time and murdering your potential.

What you can do:

  • Always think that ‘if others can do it, so can you’.
  • Go and take chances, it is a lot better to take chances and learn from them than never try and regret not doing so.

4. Expecting success right away
There is no such thing as overnight success.
Even those who won the lottery and became millionaires in the blink of an eye, it still took them years (if not months) of betting before finally hitting it lucky.
Expecting that you will get 1 million followers tomorrow after making one post today, or expecting 1 million sales tomorrow after promoting your business today, is a bad way of doing things.
A mindset like this is the common reason why people quit and conclude that ‘it doesn’t work’.

What you can do:

  • Start with a proper mindset that success doesn’t happen overnight and you will need to put hard work and
  • dedication in order to achieve your goals – success will happen and that is for sure but you need to do the work.
  • Focus more on the process rather than the result – if you continue to focus on the million dollars of income, you will get tired and frustrated easily of you don’t achieve it right away.
  • Set goals and time frame to achieve your goals – that way you will have a proper expectation and direction.

5. Comparing yourself to others
Comparing yourself to others will only make you feel insecure and miserable.
Stop it!
You are your own competition.
Meaningful comparison is fine, that is determining where you are right now, what others did to reach where they are, and learning to apply what others did to your own situation to reach your goal.

What you can do:

  • Focus on how you can develop yourself to become a better person than you were yesterday.
  • Pay more attention on what you have, where you are right now and where you want to get to.
  • Your comparison should be what you are today versus last year or the previous years.
